So we arrived in Florence yesterday morning and it's been so busy! The internet connection here is so terrible I'm not going to upload pictures, but it is air conditioned in our hotel so that's good. It's also the place to get leather (there are leather stores EVERYWHERE), so if there are any requests...
Yesterday we had a quick tour of Florence and went to the Academia and saw the statue of David! We had dinner (spaghetti) and then went out to explore and saw an outdoor ballet performance in the Piazza della Signoria. Today we woke up early and spent a good part of the day at the Uffizi (the Medici 'offices', now an enormous museum). We saw Botticelli's Spring and the Birth of Venus, as well as some Giotto and Vesalio, and Leonardo da Vinci. All worth seeing in person. Then we went to Ponte Vecchio, Cappella Brancacci, and Santa Croce. These will be more interesting to explain when I can upload pictures.
You probably can tell I'm fairly tired. Ricardo has more stamina than the rest of us do. We're going to a group dinner in a while, then I might go to bed. Or go shopping...
Hi Ellen.
ReplyDeleteFlorence will wear anyone out. I think Ricardo is used to the heat. Good the hear you have air conditioning. In Lybia we did not. Can you imagine how hot that was for us? We Northwetter's are exhausted by all this heat! I ran into Julia's mom today at Costco. She wants to see your blog because she too loves Italy!
YEEY spaghetti! Yess I bet it was good! And, leather? hahaha so there is cows there I'm assuming?
