Yesterday morning we arrived at the Fiumicino airport finally! It was a great flight, we managed to get out of Dulles in spite of a United computer crash and more lightening storms that day.
Getting to the Rome center from the airport was a different matter, between the luggage, cryptic airport workers, and of course not knowing the area at all. It ended up going rather smoothly, although we seemed perpetually on the verge of getting in an accident due to hordes of aggressive drivers/pedestrians.
Mona showed us around the Campo di Fiori area, and got us sandwiches and a cell phone. We live a couple blocks away from where Julius Caesar was assassinated, which is now a cat farm with hundreds of injured cats that the city feeds and provides a vet for (HANNAH)!
We had a 5 course dinner at Trattoria Moderna last night, which was fantastic (pasta with ricotta parmesan and arichokes was one course).
